Classroom behaviour management, behaviour management ideas and techniques

Individual Behaviour Plans

Inidividual behaviour plans (IBP's) are an outline of the behaviour strategies for a particular pupil. It's important that other educators and colleagues are familiar with IBP's when working with the pupil as it ensure consistency, and minimises the pupil having a 'favourite' teacher. This will strengthen the effect if all the teachers are on board. IBP's are usually created with the input from a senior teacher who has a range of techniques to choose from at her disposal.

IBP's should be regularly reviewed - maybe termly / as necessary, to review the impact, if any, it has on the pupil. If no effect has been noted, it's important not to give up, and to continue with the bahaviour as outlined in the IBP. If necessary, we advise leaving an area on your classroom notes page for whole-class behaviour ideas and techniques that you or a colleague have discovered to work, or, unfortunately, not work!
